Adam Kary Copeland, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, who's hardworking, easygoing, and a man of many skills, departed this life on Monday, June 2, 2014. His benevolence and humbleness will be missed most of all. Adam was born May 2, 1939, in Slocumb, Alabama, the youngest of nine children, to Oscar and Roberta Adams Copeland. He attended Geneva County Training School where he graduated salutatorian. He went on to play with local baseball leagues in New Jersey and Tampa, FL as a pitcher. He served his country actively for three years with the Army in 1963 with two years reserve duty. Adam worked for 40 years as a warehouse manager with Starship Hallmark for the Tortorice family before his retirement. He was a skilled plumber, electrician and Licensed Audio/Video repairman. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed spending time with his family. He's described and known by many, as "a good man," patient, helpful, honest, and always optimistic, finding the greater good in people. His reputation was truly a reflection of who he was. Adam is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Roberta Adams Copeland; his brothers, Oscar Dave (O.D.), Willie, Comer, and Avery Louis (Al); his sisters, Costelle and Rebie. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, June 13, 2014, at Calvary Mortuary Chapel. Interment will follow at Live Oak Memorial Park, under the direction of Calvary Mortuary Staff. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at the chapel. A Wake service and time of memory will be celebrated from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Thursday, June 12, 2014, at the chapel. Continuing his legacy is his loving and devoted wife, Dianna Edwards Copeland of over 40 years; his loving daughter, Dana Copeland Simon; his son-in-law, Mark Luke Simon Jr.; his grandchildren, Chloë and Luke Adam all of Beaumont, Texas; one sister, Doris Copeland Rogers of Columbus, GA; one brother, James Copeland of Miami, FL ; special neices, Jacqueline Copeland-Rainey of Newark, NJ and Gwendolyn Rogers-Key of Atlanta, GA; special cousin, Della Mae Edwards of Beaumont, TX; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and colleagues whose lives he touched.
