On Saturday, January 11, 2025, Mr. Audrey Ray "Boogie" Pitre, Sr. was called to his eternal rest in the Heavenly realm by our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ. "Boogie", as he was affectionally known, was born on January 26, 1946, in Big Cane, LA to the late Alton & Floria Pitre.

He was a 1964 graduate of Carver High School where he excelled in both academics and sports. In 1966, Boogie enlisted in the United States Army. After completing service in Germany and two tours in Vietnam, he received an Honorable discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant (E6).

Boogie began his career as a Process Operator at Texaco Research in Port Arthur, Texas. His work ethic, tenacity and dogged perseverance forged the way to career advancement resulting in multiple leadership assignments. Texaco afforded him the opportunity to travel the world working in Japan, Germany, Italy, China, Thailand, and Sicily. After 40 years of service, Boogie retired from Texaco and embarked on his second career as a Safety Coordinator with both Signal International LLC and Gulf Copper Shipyard. His second retirement was in June 2023. Boogie also worked at the Port of Port Arthur (ILA Local 25) and as a carpenter.

On April 12, 1969, Boogie married the love of his life, Mary Bazile Pitre. From this union, four children were born. Throughout his illness, Mary was by his side as a supportive and loving wife. She cherishes the memories of their Sunday afternoon rides and their many fishing trips.

Boogie accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at an early age. He united with the Shilo Missionary Baptist Church in the seventies under the leadership of the late Pastor Samuel Joseph. At Shilo, Boogie served as a deacon, President of the Usher Board and Brotherhood, Sunday School Teacher, and member of the Shilo Male Chorus. The relationship with his new Pastor, Carl Fontenot, was especially important and cherished until the end.

Boogie was predeceased by his parents, Alton and Floria Pitre, his sister, Floria Lee Smith and his brother, Alton Pitre, Jr.

He leaves to cherish beloved memories with his wife of 55 years, Mary Bazile Pitre; his daughter, Andrea Pitre of Beaumont, TX; four sons: Gregory (Anita) Pitre, Sr. of Hutto, TX, Eric Pitre of Dallas, TX, Audrey Pitre, Jr. of Port Arthur, TX and Patrick Bazile of Ville Platte, LA; five grandsons: Gregory (Rebecca) Pitre, Jr., Sedrick (Valencia) Phillips, Jalen (Rebecka) Pitre, Julian Pitre and Tre' Pitre; three granddaughters: Ferron Chevis, Chantel Washington, and Emily Gloston-Malbrough; four brothers: Robert (Connie) Lavalais, Arvenel (Ellen) Pitre, Willie (Miriam) Pitre, and Emile (Barbara) Pitre; one sister, Linda (Sammy) Carpenter; special cousin, Gordon Lavalais; three God-children: Ashley Zeno, Cassidy Averitt-Carter, and Emmanuel Carter; his Shilo Baptist Church family and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and co-workers. He fought the good fight and finished his course with distinction. Now may he receive his Heavenly rewards from our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. at Cathedral of Faith Baptist Church with interment on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at 12:00 P.M. at Antioch Baptist Church & Cemetery under the direction of Calvary Mortuary Staff.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. Friday at the Church.
