With hearts full of both gratitude and sorrow, we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, Deborah Ann Thibodeaux Hanson, who took her final bow - unafraid and with quiet strength on Friday, April 3, 2026, at the age of 77.

A woman of extraordinary strength and grace, Deborah Ann Thibodeaux was born on December 4, 1948, in Beaumont, Texas to the late Joseph "Son" and Muriel M. Thibodeaux. She was the only daughter among five brothers.

She was a 1967 graduate of Hebert High School. She earned her nursing degree as one of the first few black nursing students at Baylor University.

Deborah was the beloved wife to the late Dr. Robert E. Hanson, with whom she shared 49 years of marriage, 8 children, and a deep and abiding love, respect, and genuine admiration for one another. She was a fiercely devoted mother, wife, daughter, sister, grandmother, mother-in-law, and friend.

Also known as Deb, and lovingly called Gigi by her grandchildren, she touched so many with her warmth, wit, vivaciousness, and generosity.

She leaves to celebrate her life, her children, Ryan Hunter (Elicia), Piia Brown (Troy), Robyn Hanson, Paul Hanson (Michelle), Ahli Little (Jeremy), Mikn Simon (Peter), Michael Hanson and Alan Hanson; brother, Lumus "Butch" Thibodeaux; grandchildren, Meagan, Adrian, Peter, River, Cameron, Anaya, Kamren, Ean, Rylee, Maya, Sira, Niia, Paloma, Solana, Emile and Maxime.

She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Inc. and held many positions throughout her years of service. She was also a member of The Links, and Jack and Jill of America.

She was a #1 Dallas Cowboys ride-or-die fan. A true social butterfly. A lover of life, travel, gardening, wine, and good food. She was a girl's girl, a savvy bargain shopper, an endless AMEX gift card giver, and "Gigi" to the ninth degree. She was simply… extraordinary.

But most importantly, she was unmatched in her role as a mother. Alongside Bob, she made sure each of her children was afforded every opportunity available to them. Time, energy, and expense were never deterrents when it came to her children.

Ma, you will be missed to the depths of a million oceans.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church under the direction of Calvary Mortuary staff.
