Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Gerald Bailey, of Beaumont, Texas, who passed away on Sunday, October  10th 2021.

His contagious and giving spirit will be dearly missed and always remembered by his children, Gerald Bailey, Jr. and Andrea Isabell; grandchildren Taylor, Ryan, Alyse, Sean, and Ezra Bailey as well as Preston Isabell; his siblings Sandra Jo Williams, Dottie Lynn Johnson (Kenneth), Leroy Bailey (Barbara), and sister-in-law Sandra Faye Bailey; and a host of nieces and nephews. He will also be remembered by longtime family friend, Sarah Moake and her daughter Sahela Campbell.

Gerald is preceded in death by his loving mother, Gustavia Jackson Bailey, his father, Vince Bailey, his brother, Edward Mitchell Bailey, and his sister Betty Lazenby.

Gerald was born and raised in Beaumont, Texas, eventually retiring from Exxon Mobil after approximately 35 years.  Throughout his life, Gerald was passionate about serving his community, volunteering extensively with Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church, where he was a lifetime member, the National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI), and numerous other organizations.  He frequently donated his time and resources to raising awareness for cancer and mental health care.  In addition, he is fondly remembered for his love for cooking for family and friends and for preparing, packaging, and handing out meals to the homeless every holiday season.  There is no one this kind, giving soul would not assist if asked.  His humorous, generous, and gregarious nature is rooted within and well-known throughout his community and this loss of spirit will no doubt be profoundly felt.  As such, please join us as we celebrate his life on Wednesday October 20th, 2021 at Our Mother Of Mercy Catholic Church, 3390 Sarah St, Beaumont, Tx. 77705  with viewing at 8am, Rosary at 9:15am, and Mass at 10am.  Interment will be the following day, Thursday October 21st, 2021 at 11:30 am at the Houston. National Cemetery for Veterans, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, Tx 77038.

Memorial donations/in lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Julie Rogers Gift of Life or Catholic Charities of Southeast Texas.
