Obituary

Gloria T. Pierre, 95, of Beaumont, Texas, departed this life on Friday, May 3, 2024.

She was born April 18, 1929, in Beaumont, Texas, to the late Wacey Pierre, Sr. and Pearl Marie Pier.  She attended Beaumont Public Schools and took college courses at night earning an Associate of Science degree in Nursing while raising her five children.

"Glory" as her mother called her, loved her 'vocation' she felt 'called' to serve as a nurse.  She began her career as a Licensed Vocational Nurse at Hotel Dieu Hospital Negro Ward as the Charge Nurse.  She later worked at Sprott Hospital before spending most of her career in the Intensive Care Unit and MASH (Medical and Surgical Hospital) at Baptist Hospital of Southeast Texas.

Ms. Pierre was a devoted Catholic, attending Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, a member of the Catholic Daughters, a 4th Degree Lady in KPC - Ladies Auxiliary, Ladies Sodality, St. Joseph's Society, a Lector, and a Eucharistic Minister.

When she wasn't working or at church; you could find her at the local bingo halls enjoying herself with friends.  Her other favorite hobbies included: Bid Whist, Pokeno, Crochet, Bowling, and fun times at the "Harvest Club".

She will be deeply missed and remembered as a vibrant woman of strength, action, determination, and graciousness.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wacey Pierre, Sr. and Pearl Marie Guerin Pier, brothers, Wacey Jr., James, Donald, and Leonard, sister, Emma Jean Pierre-Pipkin, and oldest daughter, Peggy Ann Pierre.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery under the direction of Calvary Mortuary Staff.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. on Saturday at the Church.

The Rosary will begin at 10:00 A.M.

Gloria's love and memories will remain in the hearts of her sons, Raymond A. Pierre (Claudia), and Michael J. Pierre; daughters, Margarette P. Jackson (Robert), and Jayne Edwards; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
