Mr. Granvel Petry, Sr., 88, of Beaumont, TX, departed this life on Friday, August 23, 2013.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, August 31, 2013, at Pleasant Green Baptist Church, with interment at Live Oak Memorial Park, under the direction of Calvary Mortuary Staff. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at the church.
He was born on September 3, 1924, to Robert Petry, Sr. and Mable Hunley-Petry in Abbeville, Louisiana. He was a retired longshoreman with the Port of Beaumont.
Survivors include his daughters, Mable Lee Thibodeaux-Owens (Gaylon) of Lakeland, Florida and Frances Brumfield-Gouthia (Larry) of Beaumont, Texas; son, Granvel Petry, Jr. of Beaumont, Texas; 5 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grand-daughter; brothers, Roosevelt Petry, Sr. (Cewillow) and Emmett Petry, Sr. both of Beaumont, Texas; sister-in-law, Mrs. Elizabeth Harmon-Citizen of Beaumont, Texas and dear family friend, Ms. Marie Majors.
