James Lee Davis, "Butch", was born on January 28, 1950 in Beaumont, Texas, to Jessie Lee and Willie Mae Davis. James was called home on October 31, 2018.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at 10:00 A.M. Visitation will begin at 8:00 A.M. with a Rosary recited at 9:15 A.M. Burial will take place at Houston National Cemetery on Monday, November 12, 2018, at 1:30 P.M.
James was a life-long member at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church. He graduated from Hebert High School in 1970. He entered the United States Army and was a Vietnam War veteran, was awarded a Bronze Star for outstanding service. James was employed at Mobil Refinery for 21 years.
An avid basketball player. James coached school age, Pro-Kids, and middle school basketball kids many years for Melton YMCA. His teams excelled and participated at the state level many times.
James is survived by his wife, Henrietta Shepherd; four daughters, YaKima Davis of New York City, Yatarra Darjean (Daniel) of Dallas TX, Tammy Harris (Keith) of Houston TX, and Kendra Jackson of Beaumont; two brothers, Allen Davis (Patricia), and Jude Davis (Pauline); four sisters, Lee Anna Robinson (George), Burnitta (Bunny) Eaglin, Beatrice Preater (Douglas), and Pastor Alice Booker (Mark) all of Beaumont; two grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
