Lester "Bootsie" Matthews, Jr., 75 , of Beaumont, Texas, departed this earthly life on Friday, July 8, 2022.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at 1:00 P.M. at Triumph Church Beaumont with interment to follow at Greenlawn Cemetery under the direction of Calvary Mortuary Staff.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. until 1:00 P.M. Saturday at the Church.

Lester was a faithful and active member of Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Carl Fontenot, Sr.  Lester served as a Deacon, Treasure, President of the Usher Board, and a member of the Trustee Board.

Lester's love and memories will remain in the hearts of his wife, Dr. Esther Ruth Matthews; son, Alvin C. Hicks; daughters, Jana E. Richard (Dwight), and Pamela Y. Bennett (Kenneth); brothers, Joseph L. Brown, Cleveland Brown, Lawrence Brown, Jerome Brown, and Dwayne Matthews; sisters, Amber Briscoe, Alicia Matthews, and Wynette Rideau; grandchildren, Shaun M. Hicks, Sr., who he raised from the age of five, Kristopher J. Richard, Kayla J. Richard, and Kenidy A. Bennett; great-grandchildren, Tristan R. Richard, Shaun M. Hicks, Jr., and Bryceson Law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
