Obituary

Mark Pierre McKinney, 53, of Beaumont, Texas, departed this life on Wednesday, March 13, 2024.

Mark Pierre McKinney was born on September 8, 1970, to Diane Branch. He lived in Beaumont, Texas for most of his life.

Mark attended Kelly High School and Lamar University. He had various jobs where he learned many skills and established great friendships along the way. He worked as Camp Director at Camp Niwana in Woodville, Texas, where he taught children how to swim, and camp. Mark also worked at the haunted hotel in Beaumont, Texas, where he got a thrill out of scaring folks.

In his pastime, he enjoyed playing music at various churches, including Our Lady of the Assumption Church, St. Anne's Catholic Church, Providence Church, and Crossroads Church. Music was Mark's first love. He was a self-taught musician and mastered the guitar and piano. He also taught others to play as well. He played in numerous bands in the area. Mark wrote, composed, and produced some of his own songs. Even when he lost his sight, he continued playing his music and sharing his gifts and talents with others. Mark was a FOODIE! He loved to eat out at restaurants with friends and family. The hotter the food, the better. He also enjoyed gaming. He made so many friends all over the world. Mark loved to travel all over the country. His favorite spot was Seattle! Go Seahawks!

He was preceded in death by his mother, Diane Branch, grandmother, Seawillow Branch, and his uncle, Charles "Skip" Branch.

Mark was an amazing person that endured many obstacles, but he never lost his faith in our almighty God. His passing has dimmed a bright light in this world. He will be missed so very much by family and friends.

Mark's love and memories will remain in the hearts of his sister, Monica Branch; aunt, Kathleen Landry (Thomas); and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
