Obituary

Griffen Bailey Keyes was born on November 28, 1936, to Bailey Keyes and Julia Segust Keyes in Welsh, Louisiana, bringing happiness to his devoted family.

He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and was baptized at an early age, surrounded by the caring support of his church family.

Following his childhood, Griffen graduated from Carver High School in Kinder, LA, on May 25, 1956, cherished by classmates and remembered for his kindness. This early foundation shaped his future devotion to family and service.

After completing his education, on April 10, 1960, Griffen married the love of his life, Annie Lee Keyes, and they were blessed with five beautiful children.

Transitioning to his service years, on October 29, 1961, Griffen enlisted in the United States Army, where he served his country.

Following his Army service, he attended a trade school for a Machinist program and was employed by Idecoin from 1967 until retirement. Pastor Griffen B. Keyes had a special heart for repairing and restoring Washers and Dryers. Through this hobby, he opened his business, Keyes Appliance, while teaching his children and grandchildren the trade. He served many in the City of Beaumont. He answered calls day and night. His favorite hobby is one that earned him extra money.

For 30 years, he served as Pastor of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Beaumont, Texas, where he tirelessly poured into the community whenever and wherever he could. His ministry extended far beyond the church walls.

Throughout his life, he treasured moments filled with laughter and love with family and friends.

Griffen was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Annie Lee Keyes, with whom he is now reunited in eternal peace. His parents, Bailey Keyes and Julia Segust Keyes; and his sisters, Grace Wyckoff, Ruth Hardeman, Letha Maryland, and Mable Jones

On Friday, May 15, 2026, God in His infinite wisdom took the soul of His son, Pastor Griffen Bailey Keyes, and he peacefully transitioned from labor to reward.

Pastor Griffen's love and memories will remain in the hearts of his daughters, Angela Scott, and Glenda Scott (Walter); sons, Elliott Keyes, Byron Keyes (Kay), and Terry Keyes (Lisa); sisters, Cora Alfred, and Yvonne Wykoff; brother, Herbert Keyes (Velma); five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. May his legacy of faith, kindness, and devotion continue to inspire all who knew him.
