Obituary

Richard Wesley Gibbs, 94, of Missouri City, Texas, formerly of Beaumont, Texas departed this life on Saturday, July 31, 2021.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Calvary Mortuary Chapel with entombment to follow at Live Oak Memorial Park Mausoleum  under the direction of Calvary Mortuary Staff.
Richard Wesley Gibbs was born on December 5, 1926 to Eugene Gibbs, Sr and Clara Reed Gibbs in the Newton County sawmill town of Hartburg, Texas. He was preceded in death by both parents, as well as his beloved wife of 51 years, Bertha Ruth Stevenson Gibbs. He was also preceded in death by seven of his eight siblings, Eugene Gibbs, Jr., Jessie Mae Gibbs Tyler, Willie Louis Gibbs, Leon Gibbs, Lula Mae Gibbs Johnson, Alex Levert Gibbs and Allison Ruth Gibbs.
He is survived by his brother Odell Gibbs (Evelyn), his daughters, Brenda Johnson (Missouri City, TX) and Kathy Tatmon Barber (Missouri City, TX); and their brother-of-love Roy Gibbs (Beaumont, TX).  Also cherishing his memory are grandchildren, Jasmine Johnson DeBose (Michael) of Richmond, Texas and Richard Wesley Johnson of Missouri City, Texas.  Along with numerous Gibbs' relatives, also bidding him a loving farewell is Bertha Ruth's family - the Nelson Nation of in-laws, including the nieces and nephews who all vied to be his "favorite" and kept in contact with him through calls and prayers.
