Rickey Charles Mays, Sr., 58, of Spring, TX, former resident of Fort Worth, TX for 18 years; New Orleans, LA for 21 years; and Beaumont, TX for 17 years; went from labor to reward, on Wednesday, October 24, 2012.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, November 3, 2012, at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, with Entombment at Live Oak Memorial Park, under the direction of Calvary Mortuary Staff. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at the church.
Rickey was a graduate of Xavier University of New Orleans, LA. He earned a BS degree in Business, a Master's degree in Administration, and he was a Registered Nurse for 29 years. He was a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He was employed by Texas Home Health of Beaumont, TX as an RN/Case Manager; The Medical Center of S.E.T.X. of Port Arthur, TX, Cath/Heart Lab; Baptist Hospital of Beaumont, TX; and Methodist Hospital of Houston, TX in Recovery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, L.D. Mays and Helen Elizabeth Davis Mays; and brother, Poochie Davis.
Rickey's love and memories will remain in the hearts of his wife, Patsy Ruth Young-Mays; sons, Rickey C. Mays, Jr. of Houston, TX, Joshua Jessey Mays of Beaumont, TX, Patrick Jones (Taylor) of Beaumont, TX, Lawrence Jones, Jr. of Spring, TX, and Lawrence Jones III (Tre) of Spring, TX; daughters, Rickesha Mays of Beaumont, TX and Jolene Jones Robinson (Anthony) of Spring, TX; sisters, Gwendolyn Mays Brown, Rita Kay Walker, and Levita Brown, all of Fort Worth, TX; brother, Ronnie Mays of Fort Worth, TX; mother-in-law, Elma Young of Beaumont, TX; 6 sister-in-laws; 6 brother-in-laws; 2 grandchildren, Tizianna Jones and Giovanna Jones both of Beaumont, TX; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, loved ones, and friends.
